Just Beet It (with Kelp)

What do you do with the abundance of carrots and beets at the Farmers' Market? Make a kelp smoothie, of course! Beets are naturally sweet, pairing well with the zing of fresh citrus and mellow flavor of our sustainably farmed fresh, frozen kelp.

Fresh, frozen kelp lacks the salty, fishy flavors we associate with dried seaweeds, so feel free to put it in any type of smoothie!

Paleo, vegan, and vegetarian friendly. Makes 24 oz.

  • 1 cube Ocean Approved kelp (or 2 TB kelp)
  • 1 cooked beet, peeled
  • 1 cooked carrot
  • 1/2 grapefruit
  • juice of 1 orange
  • 1 cup coconut water*
  • 1/2 inch fresh ginger*

*If you want a richer and fattier smoothie for longer lasting energy, use coconut milk instead of water.

*Feel free to add more ginger if your immune system is feeling low.

Add all ingredients to blender; puree until smooth.
