Ocean Approved, LLC, was formed in 2006 and is active in farming the North Atlantic Ocean through our sister company, Aqua Farms, LLC. We produce high-quality fresh local kelp products and rope-grown mussels.

Tollef Olson, senior member of both companies, is a Maine native with an extensive history on the oceans of the world. Like many New Englanders, Tollef spent his early years on boats circling the globe. Working on commercial fishing and historical salvage vessels, he had the opportunity to observe how other regions take advantage of aquaculture and mariculture techniques to best husband their natural resources.

Returning home in the early 1990s, Tollef immediately began planning a future that would optimize the ocean's potential while protecting its integrity. A lifelong surfer and diver, Olson respects the environment and his companies harvest accordingly.

Ocean Approved created a new product utlizing fresh kelp hand-harvested from the cold, clean North Atlantic waters off the Gulf of Maine. Kelp Noodles are gluten-free and high in calcium, vitamin A and other essential nutrients.
